Incredible Customer Service
I do not get to post very often, but when I do I try to make it something worthwhile.
I am a huge fan of customer service and so when it is done right I believe that those people need to be applauded for their efforts. Over the past 6 months I have come to know a guy named Chris Palmer. I have already gone as far as posting a tweet about his company, I wrote a recommendation on LinkedIn, and I posted a link to his site on FaceBook.
I am doing these things, because Chris took the time to give me information that may not have increased his sales, but helped me. That is customer service. He actually saved me money.
If you know me, then you know I don't give out recommendations lightly, and I am usually a little too quick with criticism, but I really do believe Chris "gets it", and would be willing to go out of his way for any of his customers.
There is no doubt in my mind, that anyone who lives within NY state, more specifically Broome or Tioga County, should call him and see if he can help save money or at least answer a question or provide some guidance.
He is a great resource, the whole staff are wonderful people and the service was incredible.
If you would like to talk with Chris give him a call at 607-484-8400 stop in and see him at:

What Chief Executives Really Want?
What Chief Executives Really Want?
[A short comment on a recent Business Week article: What Chief Executives Really Want, by Frank Kern:]
First, great article. Second, the writer suggested the following:
CEO's want "Creative Disruption".
"Creative leaders do the following...
• Disrupt the status quo.
• Disrupt existing business models.
• Disrupt organizational paralysis."
I have two points that I have to make:
1. Those that bring creative disruption into an organization must be well versed in change management or else they are in for an incredible battle. The new creative leader must be able to get the buy-in from all parties in order to not be seen as the guy who just wants to change things, but as the guy who is going to make things better without "altering" people's lives in a drastic way. Those new leaders must also be able to provide some type of assurance in an unsure and changing environment and that is very difficult.
2. FINALLY! I have been advocating this for years and I am so glad to see that at least it is getting a little more mainstream attention. I have been telling people for 5 years that the age of information is over and we are and have entered what I call the "conceptualization age". If you want to succeed or you want your business to grow, you must not only be able to harness the information and the technology that is out there right now, but you better be able to put forth a new concept and be able to take that brilliant new creative concept and wrap it up nice and pretty so that everyone wants a piece of it. It will be the new "concepts" based on real time information that propel a business into new profitability.
I will have to write up a full paper on my thoughts on this topic with complete resources, as this should be a growing area of business management.

Recession Selling
Neil Rackham, "Customers will often buy much more expensive solutions in a recession if they perceive them as less risky." Selling Power June 2009
Selling in the “New Economy”
I was reading Selling Power - June 2009 (Yes, I am behind in my reading), Gerhard Gschwandtner wrote, "We can no longer dictate how prospects buy, and we can no longer act as if we know what's best for the customer. Such terms as "solution selling", value selling", and "consultative selling" sound good, but they no longer matter. What matters is what the customer wants."I agree. Technology has changed and provided customers with incredible new ways to purchase or at least research products. Changes in technology have changed society, and have changed the buying process and the selling process. At the end of the article, Gerhard continues, "...there is better technology to to manage every step of your sales process...renovate your sales technology so you can accelerate your sales. If you don't like that change, get ready to be irrelevant."
